Do you clean the slides and negatives before scanning them?
We recommend that you clean your slides before sending them to us. However, we do use a antistatic film cloth and/or a very soft hand held brush to loosen dust, then we blow off visible dust on both sides of the film using a blower immediately prior to scanning. Even by doing all of this dust does not always get entirely removed. Dust and specks on the film that are not visible to the eye are visible to the scanner, so it is visible when scanned. By selecting ICE processing dust and specks are removed. Even if your film is new it probably has scratches from the film development, using ICE removes these distracting lines.

What kind of CD-R's and DVD-R's do you use?
We only use top quality TDK & Taiyo Yuden Data CD-R's and DVD-R's. A slim jewel case is included for each CD along with a custom traycard, for example "Pearson - Volume 1." We never mark on the CD itself because it could potentially damage the data.

How much do you charge for CD-Rs?
Nothing. Pearson Imaging offers services only. All scanning prices are listed on the prices page.

What won't you scan?
We do not scan images that are illegal or objectionable. Also, we do not scan copyrighted images without consent of the copyright owner, most of the time the photographer is the copyright owner. If a slide has been purchased then it is a copyrighted image and will not be scanned without consent. It is pretty easy to tell these slides because copyright information is usually printed on the mount. If you are unsure about an image then simply do not send it.

What if my slides are under or over exposed?
We correct for over or under-exposed images free of charge. Most over or under-exposed frames can be corrected. However, frames that are on the ends of the spectrum (i.e. nearly all black or all white) cannot be helped because the data simply is not there. Basically we do what we can to correct for over or under-exposed frames.
