Shipping Information

Overview

When sending your materials to us the first thing you need to do is print out your quote request form and include it with the shipment; our shipping address will be listed on your quote. If you are paying by personal check or money order make sure to include payment as well. If you have any special instructions for your project make sure to include these as well.

Please package and submit your materials to us however you feel appropriate. In general, slides need to be removed from carousels and film should be sent in sleeves or archival plastic pages. Here are some specific guidelines we would like you to follow....

Sending Slides & Mounted Film

The most important thing about sending slides to us is to remove them from carousels. We do not accept slides in carousels or in Airequipt slide magazines. When you remove the slides stack them in piles of up to 50 slides, wrap the piles up with a strip of paper, and then place a rubber band around each side of the pile. On the pile you can write what resolution you want us to scan at and/or any other special instructions. If you want the slides in a specific order please label all the slides numerically. Place the wrapped piles into ziplock bags. If your slides are still in their original boxes, archival boxes, or archival plastic storage pages you can send them in those.

Sending Negatives & Unmounted Film

Protective film needs to be removed before we can scan your negatives.

You can send negatives and unmounted film to us in protective sleeves, envelopes, or archival storage sheets. If your negatives have a protective film (see picture, right) on them it must be removed before we can scan your film. We will remove it for you but it will not be replaced or returned. The only thing we ask is that each 35mm strip contain no more than 6 images. Since negatives are cut into lengths of 4-6 frames you probably won't have to do anything. Remember that film is extremely delicate, so make sure to avoid getting fingerprints on it or bending it. It should be handled by the edges and with cotton gloves on. We recommend reinforcing the film with cardboard to avoid any bending, even if you are shipping it in a box. You will definitely want to reinforce your film if you are mailing it in an envelope. Basically, make sure the film is packaged appropriately and securely for shipping.

Sending Prints

We recommend shipping prints in envelopes. If you want the prints organized in a certain way make sure to label the envelopes as you want the computer folder to be labeled. If you want the prints in a particular order make sure to label each print numerically.

Sending Video Tapes

Please try to send video tapes in their cases. Make sure to package the tapes in a box with appropriate packing materials.

Shipping Method

USPS Priority Mail is recommended, but you can ship your project to us using any carrier you wish. Your local post office has special Priority Mail boxes and envelopes that can be used for shipping at no additional charge if you ship Priority Mail. Boxes offer much better protection than envelopes. If using an envelope mark it "DO NOT BEND." Here is the US Postal Service's shipping calculator; our shipping zip code is 55428. When your project is completed and paid for we will ship everything back to you using either USPS Priority Mail or FedEx.
